Guaranteed to Grow!

Our guarantee to give you peace of mind when buying from us

We are so sure of the quality of our plants, that we offer you the following guarantee

Hardy Plants (outdoor plants such as shrubs, conifers, climbers and other similar woody plants) are covered for 5 years.

Trees come with a lifetime guarantee

If your hardy plant/tree fails to grow and thrive within the first 12 months after purchase, we will replace it with the same or acceptable similar plant/tree. After that we will endeavour to inspect (if it cannot be brought into the centre) and replace any plant material giving cause for concern, provided it has been planted, watered and cared for as indicated in the 5 Steps to Growing Success for Hardy Plants and Trees below.

Perennials and bedding plants are guaranteed within season (whilst they are on sale in the garden centre)

If your perennial/bedding plant fails to grow within season, we will replace it with the same or acceptable similar plant, provided it has been planted, watered and cared for as indicated below.

5 Steps to Growing Success for Hardy Plants and Trees

  1. Choose the right plant for the right site (check the label or ask our staff for help if you are not sure). When you get home, water it well whilst still in its pot.
  2. Mark the chosen position and dig a hole deep enough to take the root ball comfortably. Apply mycorrhizal fungi to rootball and put a thin layer in the hole as well.
  3. Carefully ease the plant out of its container and gently loosen some of the roots from the base. Put the plant in the hole and fill the space around it with the compost/soil mixture, making sure the plant sits firmly in its planting hole. If a stake is needed, e.g. for trees, it can be placed in the hole with the plant at this stage to avoid damaging the roots by pushing it into place after planting. Trees should be staked and tied firmly right from the start and checked at regular intervals to make sure they haven’t become loose.
  4. The compost round the new plant should be level with the surrounding ground but leave a slight depression around the stem to act as a reservoir when you water. Cover the new planting with a mulch, such as chipped bark, and water well.
  5. Make sure your plant doesn’t dry out in its first year, not only in dry sunny periods, but in dry windy weather as well and even check it regularly during a rain spell. A thick layer of mulch will help retain the moisture as your plant is growing and even when its fully-grown. Whilst a regular watering is important, too much water can be equally harmful, so check that your plants don’t get waterlogged in periods of heavy persistent rain.
